John Paul Thornton's new book

Sat Aug 1, 2009, 5:27 PM

For those of you who don't already know who John Paul Thornton is, you should check him out at :iconjohnpaulthornton: [link]

John Paul has done just about everything you can in the art world and has been all over the globe with his art. Lately, he has been dedicating much of his time painting incredible portraits of missing children to raise awareness of their plight. He recently wrote and published a book entitled "Art And Courage: Stories To Inspire The Artist-Warrior Within." I got my autographed copy from him Friday and have greatly enjoyed reading it. I recommend it to all artists, as it is a great reminder that what we do may have far reaching implications. We often underestimate the effects our art and attitudes have on others. He reminds us of this as well as giving some beautiful stories about various interesting individuals that he has interacted with. The book is only $12.95 plus shipping and is 160 pages. It is well written and easy to read.

Even if you don't buy his book, you should check out his art and his missing children project. I guarantee that there is nobody who will not be overwhelmed by his work and project.

Thanks...collaborations with myself, like in the drawing Self Searching, are done by doing one section on one piece of paper, then lining it up with the edges of another piece of paper and continuing the first drawing for just a minimal distance, then put the first drawing away and work solely on the second, then you can keep going by adding other sections, just line up the edges, then don't look at the first except for at the beginning. Does that make any sense? By the time you get into the subsequent sections, you don't remember what you did on the earlier ones anyone, at least I don't..
